Blend your berries, butters and brews into these healthy and filling chilled drinks
Nothing beats the summer heat like an ice-cold smoothie. Satisfyingly creamy, filling and versatile enough to suit every craving, they’re the perfect way to start your day, fill the 3 pm hunger gap or sate a sweet tooth.
From traditional berry smoothies to those with more of a kick, these six recipes will turn your blender into your new BFF.
Go traditional with this classic triple berry smoothie.
Ingredients
Note: Using a pre-bought bag of frozen mixed berries works if you don’t have fresh fruit, just eliminate the ice.
For a smoothie with a tang, blend up this tropical concoction.
Note: Putting the ice at the bottom of the blender, near the blades, makes it much easier to crush.
Cleanse your system with this green detox smoothie.
Note: After blending all the ingredients together until smooth, serve over ice to make this smoothie extra cold.
Start your day with a dose of protein in this peanut butter smoothie.
Note: Switch up the milk for 1 cup chocolate almond milk or chocolate soy milk for a sweeter treat.
If you need a little kickstart to your day, this coffee smoothie is sure to do the trick.
Note: Store any leftover coffee you made the morning before in the fridge, and then you’re saved the task of brewing more when you want this smoothie.
When you’re craving something sweet, skip the chocolate bar and go for this cocoa smoothie instead.
Note: Add 1 cup of cold brewed coffee to this smoothie to create a mocha blend.
