Unfortunately, you can't fit your whole closet in your suitcase, but these pointers will help you put together a versatile travel wardrobe
Packing for a weekend getaway can be a challenge. There always seems to be a fine line between overpacking and forgetting to bring something that you’ll really wish you had. Ladies, here is a list of my essentials for that weekend away.
Think versatility: My first important note is to make sure each piece you pack can go from day to night . . . well, except your beachwear!
Choose one or two neutral shades for your main pieces. Think black, white or beige. You can add a few pops of colour or bold prints with your accessories.
Coloured jeans are the big trend this year. Every shade of the rainbow can be found now and coloured denims tend to look a bit more refined than the classic blue jean.
You can always opt for a basic white jean for that crisp, clean look.
I definitely recommend bringing a solid lightweight dress that can be dressed up or down with a few bold accessories and paired with flats or heels.
Instead of a cardigan, bring a button-front shirt. It really goes with everything and you can wear it over your bathing suit, or with shorts or jeans.
When it comes to accessories, make them count! Belts, jewellery and scarves take up a small amount of room in your suitcase — but they can make the most impact when it comes to changing an outfit.
I have a serious weakness for shoes, and I know how tempting it can be to bring all your favourite pairs, but realistically, they are the heaviest items in your suitcase, so only bring a maximum of two pairs.
A neutral wedge is not only comfortable and versatile, but can easily dress up an outfit. And for the second pair, a flat sandal can take you from the beach to the airport in style.
