Filipino Mango Dessert Float

This Filipino mango dessert float pairs well with a hot summer day

A childhood favourite, this sweet and refreshing dessert is the perfect addition to your backyard barbecue

Made in mason jars, this traditional Filipino treat is sure to sweeten your taste buds and bring some added sunshine to your backyard summer barbecues.

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe mangoes
  • Graham crackers
  • 3 tbsp crushed graham crackers (see instructions below if you cannot purchase them)
  • 1 170ml can of Carnation thick cream
  • 3/4 cup of condensed milk

Instructions

  1. Start off by making the crushed graham crackers. I used two pieces and put them through the chopper/food processor. Run it until the crackers become really fine.
  2. Collect about 3 tablespoons of crushed graham crackers.
  3. Peel the mangoes and slice them into strips. You can freeze the mangoes before slicing them so they’re not too mushy.
  4. Combine the thick cream and the condensed milk. Mix together until just combined.
  5. Then, it’s assembly time! Ensure the mason jars are sterilized and cleaned before you assemble this dessert. Break up a couple of pieces of the graham crackers and place at the bottom of the jar.
  6. Layer with the cream mixture on top.
  7. Layer the mangoes on top of the cream. Then, repeat steps 4-6 until you reach the top of the jar.
  8. Top the jar off with the crushed graham crackers. Refrigerate the jars for at least 4 hours so that the cream can harden.
