Native to the Mediterranean region, this versatile herb adds a wonderfully strong, slightly bitter flavour to stuffing for sausages or turkey, and it can also be brewed for tea. Harvest young, tender leaves and dry in a cool, moisture-free place away from direct sunlight.

This evergreen sub-shrub is easy to grow: situate it in full sun and give it well-drained soil. Hardy to zone 5, sage thrives in average soils and dry conditions—making it ideal for container planting.
