It's never too soon to start thinking about sweet peas.
Some folks start the presoaked seeds in fall, either in the ground or in pots in a cold frame. Alternatively, spend the winter hunting for seeds of the prettiest colours and boldest aromas (like this ‘Old Spice’ mixture from Veseys Seeds, pictured) and sow them in the spring.
Don’t skimp on well-rotted manure, soil inoculant (to help the plants thrive) and a balanced organic fertilizer every two weeks. The more you pick sweet peas, the more they bloom. Close your eyes and imagine the scent!
