Don't feel like hunting for Easter treats this year? We've rounded up some of the prettiest and tastiest confections in the city
For those with a sweet tooth, there is no better time of year than Easter. Whether you’re looking for pretty chocolate creations, pastel-coloured confections or classic hot cross buns, here are some of the city’s best places to fill up your basket with Easter goodies.
Hot cross buns are an Easter staple – and Hawksworth’s Bel Café has some of the best buns in town (preorder from the café’s website to avoid missing out for $2.80 each). Or, for a less traditional treat, check out Bel Café’s Easter marshmallows, which come in lime, black currant and strawberry ($6 each) as well as the deliciously addictive milk chocolate almonds ($9.50).

Looking for some of the prettiest chocolates in town? Then check out Gem Chocolates in Kerrisdale. For their truffle-filled Easter egg, take your pick of dark, milk or white chocolate – or there’s even a vegan option made with coconut oil.

Soirette in Coal Harbour is famous for its macarons, so pick up some of these adorable macaron egg-pops (pictured above). Or go for the special Easter petit fours in either green tea and cherry flavour, or vanilla, lemon and raspberry. If you’re looking for more than just sweets, sign up for Soirette’s Easter Weekend High Tea ($36 per person) and try out Soirette’s new spring menu.

Nobody does chocolate quite like Thomas Haas. A fourth-generation chocolatier, Haas has been named one of the top 10 chocolatiers in North America by Pastry Arts and Design magazine. You’re sure to have trouble choosing from Haas’ quirky and beautiful Easter collection.

B.C. natives Heather and Lori have been satisfying Vancouver’s sweet tooth since 2002 when they opened the original Cupcakes store on Denman Street. This Easter they’ve got a collection full of creative cookies and cute cupcakes that are almost too adorable to eat.

From Mallo Eggs to Hedgehogs, Purdy’s Chocolate has forever made its mark in the world of Easter sweets – and for good reason. If you’re looking for classic chocolates that have stood the test of time, look no further. Be sure to check out Purdy’s non-chocolate offerings as well, like their sanded eggs or jelly beans.
