If you think you've got baking skills, the Baker's Market is the place to put your money where my mouth is. Update: New location!
Vancouver’s baker’s market opens again
I discovered with our recent Jam Porn competition, there are a lot of closet conserve makers in Vancouver. The incredibly popular Baker’s Market allows their flour-fingered brethren into the spotlight.
The wares of the market vendors vary almost as much as the reasons for being there. Herbed breads sit beside cupcakes that make the ’80s look monochromatic; and the celiac baker sharing her gluten-free successes also shares the space with the young baker hoping to create a following for his newly opened artisanal bakery.

The good news, if you like to bake or eat baked goods, is that the Baker’s Market has extended its fall season, now running through December 11, and are looking for new vendors. If you’re interested, check out the website.
Needing more space, the Baker’s Market is moving to Creekside Community Recreation Centre in the Olympic Village, in Southeast False Creek, starting Saturday, November 20.
