The Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew

And now there is an extra reason to visit: UNESCO recently declared Kew a World Heritage Site. Since their creation in 1759, the gardens have made a significant and uninterrupted contribution to the study of plant diversity and botanic economics, says UNESCO.

The 132-hectare landscape garden attracts one million visitors a year and makes for a delightful daytrip from London. There are many transportation options – go by bus, car, the Underground or take a trip on a riverboat and enjoy historic sights such as the Houses of Parliament and the Tate Gallery.
