From must-see attractions to outdoor adventures and more, discover and explore the best B.C. has to offer
Whether you grew up on the West Coast, have recently moved here, or are just planning to visit, there’s no doubt you’ve got a bunch of adventures you can’t wait to cross off your bucket list. To help you prioritize, we’re sharing some of our must-do B.C. experiences so you don’t miss out.
Experience: Vancouver Whale Watch
Location: Tours depart from 12240 Second Avenue, Richmond
Cost: Tickets from $177.25
Bucket list factor: Love spending time in nature and observing wildlife? Then head down to the ocean this summer and catch a glimpse of the most majestic marine mammals. The sunny season is prime time for whale-watching off Vancouver’s shores. The best part of this adventure (aside from seeing the sea animals in real life, obviously) is that if you live in the Lower Mainland, you won’t have to get too far from home.
This half-day tour departs from Steveston Village in Richmond and drops you off at the same location. A professional naturalist is on board the cruise to point out all the orcas, seals and porpoises, as they pop their heads out of the waters. Expect to be mesmerized by the spectacular views B.C. has to offer as you travel through the Gulf and San Juan Island chains, which are renowned for an up to 90 per cent success rate with sightings. And there’s no need to worry about getting hungry, as there are complimentary snacks and bottled water available. Strap in as you experience the most worthwhale three hours of your summer!
